After graduating with an MFA in Interior Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, I lived and worked in NYC for 8 years. Even in an apartment, construction and design is how I have consistently expressed my creativity.
Marrying and starting a family, we tried to spend as much time outside as we could - camping, hiking and fishing. At home I was sketching and designing improvements to our homes. I don't always complete a project once I have embarked on it, as my family can attest, but you can be sure I have thought out every detail.
We bought, lived in and slightly improved a little two bedroom ranch and an antique farmhouse north of NYC. We finally found ourselves moving to a place where we could live closer to nature and have more control over our work lives. Once in Columbia County I found the wonderful Heartwood School for the Homebuilding Crafts in Washington, MA where I learned additional basics about construction, woodworking and timber framing which have come in handy while living in the country.
When I am not building a chicken coop or dreaming about another home improvement project, I am painting plein air, taking classes and workshops to learn new ways of making art, helping my better half with the garden and sometimes knitting.
